Maintenance

Retention of Value

We want our instruments to go on giving pleasure for years – or even centuries – to come. This is why we consider organ maintenance one of the central features of our work. Every organ we build or restore is close to our hearts. Instruments like these deserve regular attention from an expert. Organ care is a matter of trust. In addition to the regular tuning and maintenance work, we recommend ourselves for revisions, renovations, responsible organ conversions and the installation of capture systems.

Effective organization

We take organ maintenance seriously: for us, it is more than a sideline. Although the specialists we employ for this line of business are not involved in restoration or the building of new instruments, we nevertheless benefit from the coordination of our expertise in all areas. Our team of well-qualified, generalist organ builders is devoted entirely to the regular care and maintenance of instruments of all types and provenance – our own as well as those of other manufacturers – and built over a period of several centuries. Each of our maintenance specialists has training and experience in the handling of historic instruments. Several days every year they meet in Männedorf to hone their skills. Apart from the practical training, these sessions are an opportunity for them to swap ideas and know-how.

We use a central online database for comprehensive and uniform planning and documentation of organ care. Information on the organs, maintenance contracts, contacts, etc. can thus be called up quickly by all regional representatives. In the case of substitutions, the transfer of knowledge is guaranteed.

Personal customer contact

Our regional representatives live in the heart of the regions they cover and act as direct contact persons for our customers. We have a keen interest in continuity and personal relation because this enables our customers to plan maintenance work thoroughly and well in advance, and plays a major role in keeping costs to a minimum. A dense service network guarantees rapid reaction times. And, of course, our organ service personnel know they can rely on every possible support from Männedorf whenever required.

Organs abroad

Needless to say, we also pay regular attention to the care of organs abroad. If customers so wish, we carry out full-scale maintenance at distant locations with relatively long service intervals. In between, these instruments are serviced by external associates. This means customers can rely on swift response when it is required and it helps to keep costs down.

Kuhn Service Contract

Negotiating a service contract allows our customers to profit from an hourly rate reduced by 10%, plus lower travel expenses for our representatives, who are able to incorporate services into their maintenance rounds.

Advisory Service

Our regional representatives are available as advisors for all enquiries from our customers. They are trained in the maintenance of historical instruments and can, at all times, draw on the wealth of expertise and competence available within our company.
