Asymmetry as the perfect solution
From time to time we come across a church in which the space is so confined that we are obliged to find an alternative to the usual models of where to position an organ. Creative rethinking is then required. For the Reformed Church of the parish of Fällanden we arrived at the unusual conclusion that the organ should be placed sideways to the nave of the church. This even provides enough space for singers and instrumentalists. Since the resulting asymmetry cannot easily be combined with an historical style, the organ is presented robed in a modern and metallic case.
Despite the small space available, the organ in Fällanden includes an 8' Principal - an important element for leading congregational singing and the basis for the mild «pleno» registration. Also available are stops which facilitate the playing of trios and cantus firmus lines. Although small, this stoplist is versatile enough to fulfil many a wish of the organist!
