The Francois-Joseph Herbuté organ built in 1870 with a neo-Gothic case for the English Church in Geneva was moved to a new location twice within the same city. The first move was to the chapel of the St. Antoine prison and then that of the Florimont Institute. When the organ was replaced in 1979 its case was used in the church of Lommis and the interior of the instrument went to the Swiss Organ Museum in Roche.
It is interesting to point out that the plan of the case, which we restored and reconstructed following modifications to it which had resulted from the changes of its location in Geneva, is drawn on the back of a Herbuté positive organ in the choir of the church of Coppet. This plan was discovered after the rebuilding of the shortened sub-structure and damaged towers. Amazingly, these parts, which had been reconstructed on the basis of models from the time, correspond extremely well with the drawings found in Coppet.
