Pfarrkirche Zur Heiligen Familie
Mauracher Organ
In 1929, the year of its construction, the organ built by the Mauracher brothers in the Catholic parish church Zur Heiligen Familie in Linz was the largest organ in the city.
The instrument is equipped with cone chests and a pneumatic key and stop action, and is particularly impressive on account of its large content of original material, as well as its technical and tonal features.
In 2002, the organ was repaired by the firm of Windtner from St. Florian, primarily with respect to technical details. More than 20 years later, the instrument was still in a playable condition, but technical and especially tonal deficiencies were disturbing.
Our cleaning and overhaul included not only «normal service», but also technical repairs to the pneumatic action, stabilisation of the case, removal of the foam rubber on the swell shutters, as well as a thorough revoicing, focussing on the reed stops.
We are happy to have been able to play a part in preserving the value of this historically significant instrument.
