My art embraces sculpture and installations, and photocollages. My interests are cycles, the surreal, the baroque, organ sounds in the microtonal range (interference), sacred rooms, stock exchange halls and the rooms of offshore platforms. By combining different levels I merge supposedly contradictory realities to something new, something surreal.
In the latest photocollages, church interiors with their furnishings contrast with stock exchange halls and their interiors. The source material comprises files of pictures from the internet and from books. The partially inadequate quality of the internet files forms part of the concept; they are a part of our visual reality, which is what interests me. That is, in the prints there are areas in sharp focus and areas that lack definition, which I bring into balance.
Maya Bringolf, 2015
With this third card, once again a digital photocollage by Maya Bringolf, our fourth series of New Year cards is complete. The Zurich artist has been studying organs and the manner of operation of organ pipes for years now, as well as a wide range of artistic creation. Her photocollages, works on paper, place the organ in an unusual context. The juxtaposition of what at first glance are highly varied elements is astounding, fascinating and exciting. We wonder what she has in store for us in the future.
